Local Fire Departments Respond to Penguin Trailer Park Fire

This is a press release from the Cortlandville Fire District. 

At approximately 3:09pm, a McGraw Assistant Fire Chief contacted Cortland County Fire Control reporting a large amount of smoke in the area of Penguin Trailer Park, this was immediately upgraded to two working trailer fires as well as a third being an immediate exposure. A second alarm was requested bringing mutual aid.

Cortlandville units arrived and began an aggressive interior attack of both structures. The fires were controlled in approximately 20 mins. The fire was contained to two structures, a third suffering minor smoke damage.

Cortlandville Fire Department was assisted by Homer, Dryden and Virgil Fire Departments on scene, while McLean provideded standby coverage.

4 residents were displaced by the fires and are being assisted by the Red Cross.

New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control is investigating the cause of the fires.
