Cortland Weather Outlook: Saturday, September 5

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Saturday, September 5, 2020:

Cool air will remain locked in place today, leading to a good deal of clouds and maybe even a shower or two.

After sunshine early this morning leads to the ground quickly warming up, the difference between that heating and some chilly air aloft will lead to a rapid increase in puffy cumulus clouds.

Once the clouds develop, they should stick around into the late afternoon, making it more cloudy than not. A few breaks of sunshine should still be expected, though.

A brief shower this afternoon cannot be totally ruled out either. Any rain should be light and brief.

The clouds should start to break up late, but a small disturbance will move in from the west, causing clouds to increase again this evening. A few more showers will also be possible overnight.

Temperatures will struggle to get beyond 70 degrees today, and some higher elevations in the northern part of the county will probably stick to the upper 60s. Tonight’s temperatures will be around 60 early, then dropping to the mid 50s.

West winds will blow at 5-10 mph with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Sunday: Sun and clouds. Maybe a late shower. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs near 70.

Monday: Partly cloudy. Breezy. Morning lows in the upper 50s. Afternoon highs in the upper 70s.

Tuesday: Lots of sunshine. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the low 80s.

Wednesday: More clouds than sun, and possibly a few showers. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the low 80s.
