Cortland Weather Outlook: Monday, September 7

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Monday, September 7, 2020:

Today’s weather will be noted by blustery south winds which will help temperatures to warm up.

The south winds began to pick up last night and will noticeably increase this morning. Wind speeds of 15-20 mph are possible with gusts as high as 40 mph. Higher elevations will have slightly stronger winds gusts compared to lower elevations.

The increase in wind will be in response to a front that will track into Western New York, then fizzle out.

Expect some clouds today out ahead of the front, and a stray afternoon shower or storm cannot be ruled out either. The chances for rain will linger into the evening, but most if not all the county should ultimately end up dry.

Temperatures this afternoon will push into the upper 70s with a few pockets hitting 80 degrees. Tonight, temperatures will slowly fall back into the 60s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Tuesday: A mix of sun and clouds. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the low 80s.

Wednesday: Lots of sun and a few fair-weather clouds. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.

Thursday: Sun and clouds, and a small chance a few showers. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the low 80s.

Friday: Partly cloudy. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the upper 60s.
