Cortland Weather Outlook: Sunday, September 13

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Sunday, September 13, 2020:

A cold front will move through the region today with gusty winds and afternoon rain showers.

A mix of sun and clouds this morning will be accompanied by blustery south winds. Wind speeds into the early afternoon will be between 10-15 mph with gusts as high as 40 mph over higher elevations.

The breaks of sunshine and south winds will push temperatures into the low 70s ahead of the front.

Clouds will increase during the early afternoon and rain should arrive sometime around 2 PM. The chances for rain will be highest through the mid afternoon before showers taper off around dinner time.

The band of rain may be weakening as it approaches from the west, so rain amounts are expected to be light and thunder is unlikely.

As the rain comes in, winds should turn to the southwest and decrease.

Skies may briefly clear behind the front around sunset, but more clouds and a few stray showers will be possible this evening and overnight.

Temperatures will fall back into the low 60s this evening with 50s after midnight.
