Cortland Weather Outlook: Wednesday, September 16

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Wednesday, September 16, 2020:

High pressure remains in control of our weather but is pushing further to the east.

Skies would be sunny under bright blue skies, but the wildfire smoke from the Western US is still present. Expect a similar look as yesterday, with a milky or even brown shading.

Also like yesterday, the smoke will have no other impacts on our air quality. The smoke may keep temperatures a couple degrees cooler than they would be otherwise, however.

South winds will give temperatures a boost, nonetheless. With windspeeds building to around 10 mph and gusts to 25 mph, look for afternoon highs to reach the low 70s.

Scattered clouds will move in tonight as winds remain steady from the south. No rain is expected, though. Temperatures will drop through the 60s and into the 50s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Thursday: Mostly cloudy with a few scattered showers in the morning. Morning lows in the low 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.

Friday: Sunshine, possibly with some thin clouds. Morning lows in the low 40s. Afternoon highs in the low 60s.

Saturday: Mostly sunny. Areas of morning frost. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.

Sunday: Partly cloudy. Areas of morning frost. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the upper 50s.
