Cortland Weather Outlook: Monday, September 21

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Monday, September 21, 2020:

High pressure continues to dominate our weather as it slowly tracks east toward northern New England.

As the high moves east, our winds will swing around to the east and southeast. Wind speeds will be very light at less than 5 mph much of the day. At times, the wind will even die off completely. Peak gusts will only reach 10 mph.

Temperatures will be a touch warmer today thanks to the northerly flow of the weekend being cut off. However, it will not get much warmer without a southerly wind, so only look for highs to be near 60 degrees today.

Skies will be sunny and bright throughout the day. Some thin clouds may pass through during the afternoon.

Another chilly evening is ahead, though it should not get as cold tonight as the last few nights. Evening temperatures will drop into the 40s with overnight lows in the upper 30s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Tuesday: Mostly sunny. Possibly some haze from wildfire smoke. Morning lows in the upper 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.

Wednesday: Partly cloudy and warmer. Morning lows near 50. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.

Thursday: Sunshine filtered through thin clouds. Morning lows near 50. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.

Friday: Partly cloudy. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.
