Your Cortland County weather forecast for Tuesday, September 22, 2020:
High pressure will remain in control of our weather, but a few changes from the last several days are in store.
First, it is not quite so cold to start this morning, and afternoon temperatures will end up warmer, too.
Sunshine and a flow of air from the Midwest will allow temperatures to rise into the low or even mid 60s this afternoon.
It would probably be a bit warmer, but those winds aloft will also bring in another plume of wildfire smoke from our west, which should hold temperatures down a couple degrees.
At the surface, winds will be from the northwest at 5-10 mph. Peak gusts should reach 20-25 mph.
Skies will be partly cloudy to mostly clear tonight. The wildfire smoke will gradually dissipate, and temperatures should settle in the upper 40s or low 50s.
Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:
Wednesday: Partly cloudy and warmer. Morning lows near 50. Afternoon highs near 70.
Thursday: Sunshine filtered through thin clouds. Morning lows near 50. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.
Friday: Partly cloudy. Morning lows in the low 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.
Saturday: A mix of sun and clouds. Morning lows in the low 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.
