Press release from the Cortland County Area Agency on Aging.

The Cortland County Area Agency on Aging is now accepting appointments for the Annual Open Enrollment (AOE) for Medicare for the 2021 year.  The enrollment period starts 10/15/20 running through 12/7/20.

Every year Medicare, Medicare Advantage plans, Medicare Prescription Drug plans, and Medigaps change their insurance policies. The changes can include premiums, copays, coinsurance, and/or even coverage. The enrollment period allows all Medicare beneficiaries to review their plans and make changes if needed. If a beneficiary enrolls in a plan during this Annual Open Enrollment period, their new coverage will start January 1, 2021.

Beneficiaries should receive an Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) and/or Evidence of Coverage (EOC) from their plan by late September. It is important to review these notices for any changes in the plan’s costs, benefits, and/or rules for the upcoming year. If the plan’s member is dissatisfied with any upcoming changes, the member has the ability to change coverages during the Annual Enrollment Period.

The Cortland County Area Agency on Aging has Health Insurance Information Counseling and Assistance Program (HIICAP) Specialists to help you assess and determine if you would benefit from a change in coverage.

Appointments are currently being scheduled by agency staff.  Due to the COVID-19 health emergency, appointments must be completed via phone or internet.  Call the Cortland County Area Agency on Aging at (607)753-5060 today to set your appointment. Appointment spaces are limited and fill quickly.
