Cortland Weather Outlook: Friday, October 2

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Friday, October 2, 2020:

A weak area of low pressure is passing to our east this morning.

Clouds will skirt through this morning with the occasional shower. Any rain that falls will be very light.

As the low tracks northeast, some moisture from Lake Ontario will keep the risk for a stray shower in the forecast for the afternoon. Sunshine will mix with the clouds though, and most areas will have a dry afternoon.

Winds will blow from the southwest this morning before turning to the west and then northwest. Wind speeds will be 5-10 mph with gusts of 20-25 mph.

Temperatures will only reach the upper 50s today. A few hilltops in the northern part of the county may stick to the mid 50s.

Evening temperatures will quickly drop into the mid 40s, but partly to mostly cloudy skies overnight should keep the temperature from dropping too much further.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Saturday: More clouds than sun. Maybe a morning shower. Morning lows in the low 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.

Sunday: Early sun giving way to clouds. Maybe a late shower. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the upper 50s.

Monday: Scattered rain showers. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny. Morning lows in the upper 30s. Afternoon highs in the upper 50s.
