Cortland Weather Outlook: Thursday, October 8

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Thursday, October 8, 2020:

Today will be a cloudy, raw day behind yesterday’s cold front.

Gusty northwest winds will continue from the overnight and will increase for the daytime hours today. Wind speeds will be around 15 mph with gusts of 35-40 mph.

The wind will finally calm down late in the afternoon and this evening.

A moist, cool air mass will move in on those winds. Plenty of clouds are expected throughout the day with a few lake effect rain showers possible this morning.

As the winds die off late in the day, the clouds will start to break some as well. Don’t expect clear skies though, not even tonight as some new lake enhancement develops.

The clouds and chilly winds will add up to highs struggling into the low 50s this afternoon. A few areas could sneak into the mid 50s if the sun comes out a bit quicker.

Temperatures will drop back into the 40s tonight, but the presence of clouds and light west wind will keep temperatures from getting colder.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Friday: Sunny with a few clouds. Morning lows in the low 40s. Afternoon highs near 60.

Saturday: A mix of sun and clouds. A few late showers. Morning lows in the low 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Sunday: Mostly cloudy with some late rain. Morning lows in the upper 40s. Afternoon highs in the upper 50s.

Monday: Cloudy with rain likely. Morning lows in the upper 40s. Afternoon highs in the low 50s.
