Your Cortland County weather forecast for Saturday, October 10, 2020:
A warm fall day today will end with showers and thunderstorms along a cold front.
Sunshine through the morning and into the early afternoon will be abundant, albeit a touch hazy due to slight amounts of wildfire smoke in the atmosphere.
Southwest winds will increase during this time with speeds of 10-15 mph. Higher elevations may gust over 35 mph, while lower elevations see gusts closer to 30 mph.
The wind and sunshine will propel temperatures upward with highs topping out in the mid 70s.
Late in the afternoon, a cold front will drop south. Scattered clouds will develop ahead of this front during the middle of the afternoon. Thunderstorms will develop to the north late and should drop south into Cortland County around sunset, give or take an hour or so.
If the storms arrive far enough ahead of sunset, there still may be a small threat of damaging winds. If the band does not arrive until or after sunset, the severe threat drops and even the chances for lightning will be low.
Nonetheless, it should rain at some point in the early evening before the front moves to the south, leaving partly cloudy skies in its wake.

Wednesday: Sunny with some late clouds. Morning lows in the low 40s. Afternoon highs in the upper 50s.
