Your Cortland County weather forecast for Sunday, October 18, 2020:
Control of our weather today will transition from high pressure lifting through New England to an incoming low pressure system from the Midwest.
Thin clouds this morning will still allow sunshine to filter through. Gradually, though, the clouds will become thicker. The afternoon should be more cloudy than not, though some breaks of sun will still be possible.
The low will remain far enough to the west that precipitation is not expected during the daytime hours or even this evening.
The south wind will be a bit blustery, coming in at speeds of 10-15 mph. Lower elevations may see gusts as high as 30 mph while hilltops gust to 35 mph.
Temperatures will be held back by the cloud cover, despite the south winds. Look for highs this afternoon in the mid 50s with a gradual drop into the 40s this evening.
Clouds will remain for the nighttime hours and a few showers may start to show up around dawn tomorrow.
