Cortland Weather Outlook: Friday, October 23

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Friday, October 23, 2020:

A pleasant day will unfold today in what could be one of the last truly warm days of the season.

There will be some clouds to contend with this morning, but skies will gradually brighten and become sunny. By the mid and late afternoon, skies will be mostly sunny.

For the first time all week, rain is not expected today.

A breezy south wind will set up with speeds around 10 mph. Top gusts will be in the 25-30 mph range.

The sunshine and south winds will push temperatures upward, reaching a high in the low 70s. With a cold pattern expected for the end of October and into November, this should be one of the last, if not the last time we get above 70 degrees before winter.

Temperatures will drop to the low 60s this evening, then slowly back into the upper 50s overnight. Around or just before dawn Saturday, a cold front will move through and put an end to the warmth.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Saturday: Morning showers ending, but skies remain cloudy. Early temperatures falling through the 50s and into the 40s. Afternoon temperatures steady in the mid 40s.

Sunday: A mix of sun and clouds. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs near 50.

Monday: Periods of rain likely. Morning lows near 40. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.

Tuesday: Possibly some sun early before clouds increase. Rain possible late. Morning lows near 40. Afternoon highs in the upper 40s.
