Cortland Weather Outlook: Thursday, November 12

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Thursday, November 12, 2020:

Cool air has finally settled back into the region today after an extended absence.

In the wake of yesterday’s rain and last night’s cold front, winds will be from the north and northwest throughout the day. Wind speeds will be 5-10 mph with gusts of 20-25 mph, especially in the morning.

The cool winds blowing over Lake Ontario will help keep low clouds locked in place through the morning, and possibly well into the afternoon.

Some sun may try to work out during the latter half of the afternoon. No precipitation is expected today.

Temperatures will struggle between the cloudy skies and northerly winds. Look for a rise of only several degrees with highs in the mid 40s.

Tonight, any clouds will continue to dissipate and move out, leaving mostly clear skies. Evening temperatures will quickly drop to the low 30s before winds turn to the south and the temperature holds steady.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Friday: A mix of sun and clouds. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs near 50.

Saturday: Maybe an early shower. Mostly cloudy otherwise. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs in the low 40s.

Sunday: Periods of rain. Windy early. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs in the low 50s.

Monday: Cloudy with occasional rain showers, turning to snow for the evening. Morning lows in the upper 30s. Afternoon highs in the low 40s.
