Cortland Weather Outlook: Tuesday, November 17

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Tuesday, November 17, 2020:

Chilly northwest winds will keep temperatures down and lake flakes flying today. Wind speeds today and tonight will be 10-15 mph with gusts of 30-35 mph.

It will be just cold enough for lake effect snow today with highs only in the mid 30s. However, the strong winds and marginal temperatures will keep the snow disorganized.

Expect on and off snow showers and a few brief, heavier bursts throughout the day. Grassy surfaces may briefly get coated in white, but roads will remain just wet.

Tonight, as temperatures drop, the lake effect should consolidate into several small, narrow bands. Minor accumulations may occur in these bands, but most areas will probably just see a coating or no accumulation.

Evening temperatures will quickly fall back into the 20s before holding steady in the mid 20s overnight.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Wednesday: A morning flurry. Then, clouds and maybe some late sun. Breezy. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 20s.

Thursday: Sunshine filtered through thin overcast. Morning lows in the low 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Friday: Partly cloudy, with more clouds early and more sun late. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy with a few rain showers possible. Morning lows in the low 40s. Afternoon highs in the low 50s.
