Cortland County Reports Additional COVID-19 Related Death & Urges Public to Limit Activity Outside the Home

The Cortland County Health Department is sad to confirm another COVID related death of a County resident. The latest individual was a woman in her 70’s; this brings the total number of Cortland County deaths related to COVID-19 to six (6). The Cortland County Health Department will not release any further personal information about the individual.

Interim Public Health Director, Lisa Perfetti acknowledged the latest death, “We are saddened to report another loss due to the virus, and our thoughts go out to her family and friends. We know that there is a significant increase in the number of positive COVID-19 cases and urge all residents to limit your activity outside of your home, wash your hands often and wear a mask when travel outside of the home is unavoidable”.

The continual increase in positive cases remains to be linked to spread among family members or friends, co-workers in small offices and people who have recently traveled. The Health Department advises anyone showing symptoms to seek COVID testing and to continue to quarantine while awaiting tests results.
