Cortland Weather Outlook: Monday, December 14

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Monday, December 14, 2020:

Two weather systems will pass by the area today, one to our south, and the other to the north.

Snow showers will be possible this morning on the northern edge of an area of light snow associated with the southern of the two systems. A coating of snow may accumulate on the grass, but nothing more.

There is also a chance that the snow does not quite make it this far north, or even that it evaporates before reaching the ground.

Then, scattered snow showers are expected this afternoon as the second system passes to the north. Again, accumulations will be limited to a light coating, if even that.

Winds today will start from the southeast at around 5 mph. A turn to the west, then northwest is expected for the afternoon as speeds increase to near 10 mph. Top gusts, coming in the afternoon, will be 25-30 mph.

Temperatures will slowly rise to the mid 30s this afternoon before falling back into the 20s this evening and overnight. Snow showers should become less common after about 9 PM.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Tuesday: More clouds than sun. Maybe an early flurry. Temperatures steady in the mid 20s throughout the day.

Wednesday: Snow with accumulations likely. Morning lows in the upper 10s. Afternoon highs in the upper 20s.

Thursday: Snow ends early. Increasing sunshine. Morning lows near 20. Afternoon highs in the mid 20s.

Friday: Mostly sunny. Morning lows in the mid 10s. Afternoon highs in the mid 20s.
