Cortland Weather Outlook: Wednesday, December 16

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Wednesday, December 16, 2020:

Today will be the proverbial calm before the storm with snow, some heavy, set to move in overnight.

High pressure over northern New England will slowly retreat as a coastal storm begins to take shape. Clouds out ahead of that system will be widespread throughout the day.

Snow will enter from the south sometime around sunset or shortly thereafter. Snow will become steady and intensify early this evening and continue through the overnight.

Travel conditions will deteriorate quickly this evening and remain difficult through the night and into early Thursday.

The southern parts of the county should see the most snow with totals locally approaching a foot. To the north, snow amounts will be closer to a half-foot.
