Cortland Weather Outlook: Tuesday, January 5

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Tuesday, January 5, 2021:

The weather today will be a near repeat of yesterday.

Clouds will be thick throughout the day, occasionally spitting light precipitation. Most of this will fall as drizzle, but some flurries may mix in at times.

When temperatures are below freezing, namely early this morning, this evening, and over some higher elevations, the drizzle will freeze, making for a few slick spots.

Temperatures will only rise a few degrees today, getting close to but not above 35 degrees.

A drop back toward 30 is expected this evening with mid and upper 20s overnight.

Winds will be nearly calm this morning before increasing to about 5 mph this afternoon and evening. The wind will continue to come out of the northwest.

Snow has a better chance after midnight as colder air moves into cloud layers, making snow crystal growth more likely. Little to no accumulation is expected, though.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Wednesday: Cloudy. A few morning flurries. Morning lows in the low 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 20s.
