Your Cortland County weather forecast for Sunday, January 17, 2021:

Cool air will move in today on blustery winds, resulting in scattered lake effect snow showers.

Snow showers will be especially common this morning with an inch or two possibly falling, especially in the hills. The snow should taper off to just a few flurries for the afternoon.

Winds will be from the west-southwest this morning but will turn slightly to the west-northwest this afternoon. Wind speeds will increase this morning to around 15 mph with gusts over 30 mph.

The wind will decrease in speed through the afternoon, dropping to around 5 mph this evening. Winds will be primarily from the west.

Temperatures will not move much today, only adding a few degrees to get to the low 30s. A slight drop to around 30 is expected this evening with upper 20s overnight.

Snow showers will gradually increase again tonight, especially after midnight and into Monday morning.

Tuesday: Cloudy with some snow showers. Morning lows in the upper 10s. Afternoon highs near 30.

Wednesday: Scattered lake effect snow showers. Morning lows in the upper 10s. Afternoon highs in the mid 20s.

Thursday: Cloudy with light snow. Morning lows in the mid 0s. Afternoon highs in the mid 20s.
