Your Cortland County weather forecast for Tuesday, January 19, 2021:

Lake effect snow showers off Lake Erie will be in the area today.

Winds will be from the west-southwest today, carrying moisture from the lake into our region. The snow will be on and off in both intensity and coverage.

At times, some localized squally conditions will be possible, while other times have a lighter more widespread snow. Other times will likely be snow free.

Daytime accumulations will generally be less than an inch. The snow will continue into the nighttime hours, though, with localized amounts of two or three inches.

A few glimpses of sunshine may poke out between the snow showers, especially in the afternoon.

The wind will blow at around 10 mph with gusts of 25-30 mph. North-south roads may be susceptible to some minor snow drifting as a result.

High temperatures will again be around 30 degrees, followed by a drop into the 20s and eventually upper teens overnight.

Wednesday: Scattered lake effect snow showers, mostly in the morning. Breezy. Morning lows in the upper 10s. Afternoon highs in the low 20s.

Thursday: Cloudy with a little light snow. Morning lows in the mid 0s. Afternoon highs in the upper 20s.

Friday: More lake effect snow showers, especially late. Morning lows in the low 20s. Afternoon highs in the low 30s.

Saturday: Lake effect snow showers continue. Morning lows in the upper 10s. Afternoon highs in the low 20s.
