Cortland County Distributing Limited COVID-19 Vaccines to Front-Line Essential Workers Today

This is a press release from Cortland County Clerk of the Legislature Eric Mulvihill.

The Cortland County Health Department in conjunction with Guthrie Cortland Medical Center will be hosting a limited vaccination clinic at the SUNY Cortland campus. This week the clinic will focus on vaccinating Firefighters, Police Officers, Corrections Officer, Probation Officers, Social Services Caseworkers, P-12 Schools and those included in the New York State 1b vaccination eligibility category.

The County and the hospital once again requested 2500 hundred doses of vaccine late last week in preparation of this week’s clinic and was informed that the hospital would receive no allocations and the County would receive 100 doses for the week.

New York State has placed specific instructions on who is eligible for the limited allocation of vaccine. The County is prohibited from using the vaccine on those individuals who are 65 or older unless they can demonstrate that they are eligible as a member of the essential workforce as outlined by New York State.

This week’s clinic will be held at the SUNY Cortland campus on Wednesday from 4-6PM. This is a closed clinic and walk-up appointments are not accepted.

The County and Guthrie Cortland Medical Center continue to advocate for additional vaccine. Those who are eligible and interested in getting vaccinated are urged to continue pursuing appointments at one of the New York State run Vaccination sites. The County is working on establishing partnerships with local pharmacies to assist those who are 65 and to secure appointments when they become available. Operators on the County COVID hotline are continuing to take the names and contact information for those 65 and older in order to facilitate that partnership.

Cortland County and Guthrie Cortland have made the next vaccination request for anticipated clinics next week. We ask for your continued patience as we work together to bring vaccine to our community. To determine eligibility please use the following link:
