Homeless woman arrested for sunglasses burglary

A homeless woman barred from entering the Kinney Drugs on Clinton Avenue was arrested Monday and charged with burglary after she stole sunglasses from the store, stated city police.

Jacey L. Lansdowne, 30, entered the store at 2:35 p.m. Jan. 18 and stole a pair of Foster Grant sunglasses worth $22.67, said Lt. David Guerrera. Guerrera noted Lansdowne was served a notice barring her from entering the store on Oct. 5.

Lansdowne was charged with felony third-degree burglary and petit larceny, a misdemeanor. Police served her with a summons to appear in Cortland City Court at 9 a.m. Feb. 19.

CPD: Drunken man fights police attempting to aid woman

A drunk city man was arrested Sunday for preventing officers from giving a woman medical attention after she fell, unconscious, from a bar stool, according to the Cortland Police Department.

Charles L. Ray, 50, of 42 Church St. Apt. 101 was drunk at 9:35 p.m. at Wild Ginger Fusion on Main Street when he fought with officers trying to aid the unconscious woman, said Lt. David Guerrera. Officers were obliged to restrain Ray so that responding paramedics could attend to the woman, said Guerrera.

No further injuries were reported by police.

Ray was arrested, charged with misdemeanor second-degree obstructing governmental administration and released to appear at 9 a.m. Feb. 19 in Cortland City Court.
