NYS Troopers investigate fatal crash in Homer

On February 4, 2021 at approximately 4:27 p.m., New York State Police at Homer responded to a serious crash involving two vehicles on State Route 13 in the town of Homer.

Michael J. Knickerbocker, age 55 of Cincinnatus, NY died as a result of his injuries. He was the only occupant of a Chevrolet Impala that struck a U-Haul truck.

An investigation revealed that a truck was making deliveries and parked on the shoulder of State Route 13, facing southwest. Knickerbocker was traveling southwest on State Route 13 when he struck the parked vehicle. Knickerbocker was transported by to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center by TLC ambulance and was pronounced deceased.

Two people were in the truck making deliveries.  A 49-year-old male of Delphi Falls, NY was in the rear of the truck looking for a package when the vehicle was struck.  He was taken to Upstate Medical Center by TLC ambulance for a complaint of head and neck pain.  A 43-year-old male of Jamesville, NY was near the rear bumper when he heard a noise, saw the Impala and jumped out of the way.  He was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
