Cortland Weather Outlook: Sunday, February 7

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Sunday, February 7, 2021:

A weather system along the East Coast will clip our region today while a second one moves through from the west.

Light snow from the coastal low will come close to the region and should just make it into Cortland county this morning.

By the early afternoon, an area of snow associated with the second system will also move in. There may not be much or any break between the two areas of snow.

Everything will move to the east by the mid-afternoon, with just a few flurries near and after sunset.

In all, accumulations are only expected to be around an inch.

Southeast winds this morning will turn to the west, then northwest this afternoon as the second system passes through. Wind speeds will be near or under 5 mph much of the day but will increase to near 10 mph for the late afternoon and evening.

High temperatures this afternoon will reach the mid 20s. A quick drop into the teens is expected by sunset with low single digits overnight.

Lake effect snow will develop tonight but should mainly stay to the north. Areas right along the county border with Onondaga county could see some flurries overnight.
