Cortland Weather Outlook: Friday, February 12

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Friday, February 12, 2021:

High pressure will keep our weather quiet and cold today.

Winds over Lake Ontario will be from the north-northeast, keeping any lake effect precipitation and cloud cover out of our area.

Instead, some cloudiness this morning will pass through associated with the remnants of a weak disturbance.

The sun may be able to penetrate these clouds and sunshine should increase during the second half of the day as the clouds depart.

Winds will be nearly calm, with speeds under 5 mph. Top gusts will not even reach 10 mph.

Nonetheless, an influx of colder air will settle in from the north. High temperatures today will only be in the mid teens.

With skies mostly clear tonight, temperatures will quickly drop to around zero degrees. Clouds will build back in overnight, stalling the free-fall, for morning lows near or just below zero.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Saturday: Increasing clouds. Snow developing after sunset. Morning lows near or just below zero. Afternoon highs near 20.
