Cincinnatus Boys Take Down Otselic Valley on Senior Appreciation Night

Last night, the Cincinnatus Lions honored seniors Josh Smith and Owen Delepine by defeating Otselic Valley 49-39 on senior appreciation night.

Things didn't start well in the first half for the Lions. They were getting good looks for shots, but they wouldn't go in. At the end of the first half, Cincinnatus was down 14-17.

In the second half, Cincinnatus came out of the locker room roaring with a different mentality. The Lions started with some intense defense that helped them get some rhythm on offense. Cason Stafford, Scott Schuyler, and Kooper Vosburg scored layups on the first three possessions of the second half. The Lions went on to outscore Otselic Valley 21-9 in the third quarter to take the lead that would win them the game.

“I’m very proud of the way these guys competed in the second half,” said Cincinnatus Head Coach Jim Halstrom. “They were tenacious defensively and made real good decisions offensively that resulted in very efficient possessions that ended with easy buckets.”

The Lions were led by Cason Stafford with 16 points on the night. Following Stafford were Scott Schuyler with 11 points and Kooper Vosburg with 8 points.

Braeden Davis from Otselic Valley had 15 points and Lane Adams scored 10 points.

Up next, the Lions will travel to play against County and Class rival McGraw for the second time this season on Monday, March 1st, 2021. The game is scheduled to tip off at 6pm.
