Your Cortland County weather forecast for Friday, February 26, 2021:

High pressure will pass south of the region today, keeping our weather quiet and sunny.

There may be a few early morning clouds and even a stray flurry or two. These should not last long though and sunshine will quickly take over.

Once the sun is out, it should stay out for the rest of the day with few if any clouds mixing in. Clear skies will also persist this evening with clouds not returning to the area until after midnight.

High temperatures will be close to the seasonal average today, topping out in the mid 30s.

With high pressure passing nearby, winds will be light during the day. A slight westerly breeze at around 5 mph will blow this morning. Afternoon winds will drop to near zero, with what whisper of a wind there is turning to the south.

The wind will pick up substantially tonight from the southeast. Evening winds will build to around 10 mph and overnight winds will increase further. After midnight, gusts over 25 mph will be possible, especially over higher elevations.

Snow showers will also move in after midnight, but should mix with freezing rain or plain rain by dawn Saturday with under an inch of accumulation.

Monday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 30s.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny. Morning lows near 10. Afternoon highs in the low 30s.
