Cortland County High School Basketball Game Recaps (Feb. 26th)

Here are some local varsity basketball recaps from yesterday's games:

McGraw Varsity Boys Basketball vs. DeRuyter

The McGraw Eagles lost a tough game against Section III and Class D rival DeRuyter with a score of 57-74. 

McGraw senior Caleb Smith led the Eagles with 16 points on the night. Smith was followed by Gaven Truman with 12 points and Nick Potter with 9 points. 

The DeRuyter Rockets were led by Benjamin Barnes with 25 points and Gavin Richardson with 24 points  

Up next, McGraw will host the Cincinnatus Lions on Monday, March 1st at 6pm. 

Homer Varsity Girls Basketball vs. Auburn

Last night, the Homer girls basketball team lost 40-56 to Auburn on the road. 

It was a close first half with Auburn only being able to take a three point lead (24-27) at the end of the second quarter. 

In the second half, the Auburn Maroons started to take over by slowly increasing their lead to win the game. 

The Homer Trojans were led by Katlyn Sovocool with 13 points, Gracie Patriarco with 12 points, and Catherine Apker with 8 points. 

Auburn ended the game with four players in double digits. Doray DiLallo (15 points), Kylie Guarino (14 points), Peyton Maneri (10 points), and Natalie Ryan (10 points). 

Homer plays Bishop Grimes on the road this upcoming Tuesday, March 2nd at 5:30pm. 

Cincinnatus Varsity Girls Basketball vs. Otselic Valley

The Cincinnatus Lions defeated Otselic Valley last night with a score of 38-32. 

Both teams struggled to score in the first half of the game, with Otselic Valley taking an early 8-14 lead at the end of the half. 

The Lions then came back in the second half to outscore  Otselic Valley 30-18 to win the game. 

The Lions were led by both Michaela Eichorst and JuShawna Crane with 8 points each on the night. 

Otselic Valley’s Tori Foster led all scorers with 19 points. 

Up next, the Lions will host DeRuyter on Monday, March 1st at 6pm.
