It was an exciting Section III matchup last night between two Cortland County schools, as the McGraw Eagles defended home court after defeating the Cincinnatus Lions with a score of 51-45.
It was a close game from the get go, with both teams exchanging the lead in the first half. The first half would end with both teams tied 21-21.
The Eagles were able to take a 14 point lead in the fourth quarter. The Lions battled back to cut the deficit down to five points with 30 seconds left, but we’re unable to complete the comeback. In the end, Mcgraw held on to their lead to avenge their loss to the Lions last week.
The Eagles were led by seniors Caleb Smith (19 points) and Zach Lamarre (13 points).
“Caleb Smith shot well and Mcgraw played unselfish basketball. Zach Lamarre is a talented player and put it all together for a solid game,” stated Mcgraw Head Coach Derek Allen.
The Lions were led by Cason Stafford with 16 points and Scott Schuyler with 13 points.
Up next, McGraw will hit the road as they take on Cortland for another County matchup on Wednesday, March 3rd at 6:30pm. Cincinnatus will also hit the road as they go against Otselic Valley on Wednesday, March 3rd at 6pm.
