Homer Boys and Girls Basketball Fall to Bishop Grimes

The Homer Boys and Girls basketball teams both lost to Bishop Grimes last night. Homer boys played at home and girls played on the road. 

Homer Girls Basketball vs. Bishop Grimes

The Homer varsity girls basketball team fell 50-45 to a strong Bishop Grimes team on the road last night. 

The Homer Trojans started the game off well, with them outscoring Bishop Grimes 15-9 in the opening quarter and obtaining a 24-18 lead at the end of the half. 

In the second half, Bishop Grimes started making a comeback holding Homer to 8 points in the third quarter and outscoring them 18-13 in the fourth to take the win. 

"We missed too many easy shots,” said Homer Head Coach CJ Kudla. “We're a very good team, and we're still learning how to be an even better team.”

“I'm very proud of our girls,” added Coach Kudla. “Effort was there, as it always is. They followed the game-plan. We just didn't finish easy shots."

The Homer Trojans were led by Gracie Patriarco with 21 points on the night. Following Patriarco were Katlyn Sovocool with 10 points and Sarah Sovocool with 8 points. 

Jenna Sloan led Bishop Grimes with 21 points, while Naywel Ayeil scored 14 points. 

The Homer Trojans will look forward to getting back on track this Thursday, March 4th as they take on Marcellus at home. Tip off is at 6:30pm. 

Homer Boys Basketball vs. Bishop Grimes

The Homer varsity boys basketball team suffered a tough 37-53 loss to Bishop Grimes last night. 

It did not start off well for the Homer Trojans, with Bishop Grimes taking over the game early in the first quarter. Bishop Grimes held Homer to 4 points in the opening quarter and took an 11-27 lead at the half. 

The Trojans came back strong in the second half, but Bishop Grimes’ lead was too great to overcome. 

Jacob Atkins led the Trojans with 9 points on the night. Following Atkins were Ben Morenus with 8 points and Wyatt Wilbur with 7 points. 

Bishop Grimes was led by Jack Gutchess with 22 points and Jon Corl with 11 points. 

Up next, the Trojans will take on Marcellus at home on Thursday, March 4th at 4:30pm.
