Your Cortland County weather forecast for Sunday, March 7, 2021:

High pressure will build in today, gradually reducing the influence of Lake Ontario on our weather.

For the morning hours, lake effect clouds and perhaps a few stray flurries will hold stubborn. A few breaks of sun will be possible, but the clouds should generally win out.

During the afternoon, the clouds will gradually become fewer, and sunshine will increase. It may not become completely clear until late in the afternoon, but in time it should.

Clear skies will hold through the evening and overnight hours.

Northwest winds will continue between 5-10 mph today. Gusts will reach to about 20 mph. Late in the day, the wind will become light and variable. An eventual turn to the southwest should take place overnight.

Temperatures will remain a bit chilly with highs in the mid 20s. Evening temperatures will quickly fall through the teens with single digits through the overnight.

Monday: Sun and clouds. Maybe a brief shower late. Morning lows in the low 0s. Afternoon highs in the upper 30s.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny. A few thin clouds. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Wednesday: Sunny with some late clouds. Morning lows in the upper 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 50s.

Thursday: Sun early, then increasing clouds with late showers. Morning lows in the upper 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.
