Cortland County High School Basketball Game Recaps (March 11th)

Here are some local varsity basketball recaps from Thursday's games: 

Cortland Boys Basketball vs. Skaneateles

The Cortland varsity boys basketball team defeated Skaneateles with a score of 70-57 at home, improving their record to (9-6) in the shortened season. 

The Cortland Tigers scored 19 points on each of the first two opening quarters of the game to help them get a 38-12 lead by the end of the half. 

Skaneateles attempted to make a comeback by scoring 40+ points in the second half, but Cortland’s lead was too great to overcome. 

Cortland senior Noah Armstrong led the Tigers with 27 points on the night. Following Armstrong were Tyler Blake and Max Gambitta with 13 points a piece. 

The Tigers are now looking forward to ending their season with a rivalry match-up against Homer on the road this Saturday, March 13th at 2pm. 

Cortland Girls Basketball vs. Skaneateles

The Cortland varsity girls basketball team took a hard 32-40 loss against Skaneateles. 

The Cortland Tigers kept themselves in the game until the very end. With it being all tied up (25-25) at the end of the third quarter, Skaneateles went on to outscore 15-7 in the fourth to win the game. 

Margaret Starr led the Tigers with 10 points on the night. Margaret Turner, Kirsten Merritt, and Danielle Benjamin all scored 6 points each. 

Skaneateles was led by Kate Aberi with 14 points. Following were Maddy Ramsgard with 12 points and Tatum Pas'cal with 10 points. 

Cortland will end their season against Homer on the road this Saturday, March 13th at 4:30pm.

Homer Boys Basketball vs. Cazenovia

The Homer Trojans varsity boys basketball team lost 43-62 against Cazenovia. 

The Trojans were able to get away with a 14-9 lead at the end of the opening quarter, but Cazenovia had other plans for the rest of the game. 

Cazenovia went on to outscore the Trojans 15-25 in the second quarter, and were able to keep their lead to win the game. 

Jarrett Wilbur led Homer with 22 points on the night. Ben Morenus scored 6 points and Wyatt Wilbur scored 5 points. 

Cazenovia was led by Patrick Linck with 19 points and Alex Moesch with 12 points. 

Homer will end their season at home against Cortland on Saturday, March 13th at 2pm. 

Homer Girls Basketball vs. Cazenovia

The Homer varsity girls basketball team defeated Cazenovia with a score of 64-36 at home Thursday night. 

Gracie Patriarco led the Trojans with 22 points on the night. Following Patriarco were Sarah Sovocool with 14 points, Katlyn Sovocool with 12 points, and Catherine Apker with a 12 point & 11 rebound double-double. 

The Trojans will take on Weedsport on the road tonight (March 12th) for their second to last game of the shortened season.
