Cortland Weather Outlook: Friday, March 12

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Friday, March 12, 2021:

Our temperatures today will take a small hit, but will still be plenty mild.

A cold front moved through the area last night and is now south of the region. Sunny skies will persist for most of the day behind the front.

Winds today will be from the west at 5-10 mph this morning and 10-15 mph this afternoon. The west winds mean the removal of our source for warm air, but cold air will not be moving in to replace it, yet.

The result will be a pleasant but cooler day with highs in the low 50s.

Another front will move in early this evening. A brief shower or flurry may accompany the front. Winds will turn to the northwest allowing cold air back into the region.

Those winds will be blustery, with gusts of 30-40 mph through the nighttime hours. Temperatures will drop steadily, ending up near or under 20 degrees by dawn Saturday.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Saturday: Some early clouds and maybe a flurry. Then turning sunny. Morning lows near 20. Afternoon highs in the mid 30s.

Sunday: Sunny with periods of clouds. Becoming windy for the afternoon. Morning lows in the upper 20s. Early afternoon highs near 40.

Monday: Sunshine, filtering through thin overcast during the afternoon. Morning lows in the mid teens. Afternoon highs near 30.

Tuesday: Mixed precipitation eventually turning to rain. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs in the upper 30s.
