Cortland Weather Outlook: Tuesday, March 23

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Tuesday, March 23, 2021:

High pressure will loosen its grip on our region just slightly today, allowing for some clouds to move into the region.

The clouds will be high in the atmosphere, and thus thinner. Even though the clouds will increase this morning and cover the sky much of the day, partial sunshine should still penetrate through.

South winds will continue to blow at 5-10 mph with a slight jog to the southeast late this afternoon. Top gusts will be under 20 mph.

The south winds will keep warm air in place, but the filtered sunshine will likely hold temperatures a couple degrees shy of where they were yesterday. Therefore, look for highs to top out around 60 degrees.

On the flip side, the clouds will hold in the warm air better this evening. Temperatures will be low to drop through the 40s with clouds thickening through the night.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy. A few rain showers, especially in the morning. Morning lows near 40. Afternoon highs in the upper 50s.

Thursday: Partly cloudy early, then increasing clouds. Morning lows in the upper 40s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.

Friday: Windy with showers and maybe some thunderstorms. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the upper 60s.

Saturday: Clouds early, then some sun. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.
