Cortland Weather Outlook: Thursday, March 25

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Thursday, March 25, 2021:

The warmest day of the Spring thus far will occur today as we reside ahead of a strong storm system moving through the middle of the country.

A warm front moved through the area yesterday, opening us up to a big surge of warm air. Southwest winds will transport that air into the area at speeds around 10 mph.

Sunshine will mix with clouds throughout the day, but should be plentiful enough to tap into the warmer air, especially during the morning and early afternoon.

That should push temperatures into the low 70s for the early and mid afternoon hours. Temperatures may back off a degree or two in the late afternoon as clouds gradually become thicker.

A few rain showers may arrive as early as this evening. Winds will drop initially tonight, but will turn to the south and increase further after midnight.

Rain showers and a few thunderstorms will become more common as we approach dawn Friday. Temperatures throughout the evening and overnight will stay near or above 55 degrees.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Friday: Windy with showers and maybe some thunderstorms. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the upper 60s.

Saturday: Clouds early, then some sun. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the upper 40s.

Sunday: Periods of rain. Becoming breezy. Maybe some wet evening snow. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the low 50s.

Monday: Increasing sunshine. Still breezy. Morning lows near 30. Afternoon highs in the low 40s.
