Cortland Weather Outlook: Thursday, April 1

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Thursday, April 1, 2021:

Low pressure will race northeast from southern New England today, but some additional moisture will wrap around the backside of the low into Central New York.

The steady snow overnight will continue to pull away early this morning. After a lull during the mid morning, on and off snow showers will move back in for the midday and afternoon hours.

While the snow may come down hard for brief periods, accumulations will be limited to a new coating, which may even mostly melt between bursts. Higher elevations have the best chance at seeing an inch or so during the day today.

Blustery northwest winds will blow at around 15 mph. Top gusts will come in around 35 mph.

Temperatures will rise to the mid or maybe even upper 30s this afternoon. A drop back into the 20s is likely tonight.

After sunset, the chances for snow showers will decrease, but clouds will likely stick around through the overnight.

Saturday: More sun than clouds. Morning lows near 20. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Monday: Mostly sunny. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs in the low 50s.
