The Homer Trojans defeated the Cortland Purple Tigers 40-6 on the road at their annual rivalry Home-Cort Jug game Tuesday night.
The Trojans got off to a hot start with their rushing duo of Andrew VanPatten and Logan Peck. They both scored a rushing touchdown in the first quarter. VanPatten would then go on to score two additional rushing touchdowns in the second quarter, while Peck scored one more to give Homer a 33-point lead. Homer’s defense left Cortland scoreless in the first half.
Homer was then only able to score once in the second half, as Sam Sorenson caught a 26 yard touchdown pass from Jake Calabro.
Cortland’s only points came from a 24 yard fumble return from Kaleb Thorhauer in the final quarter of the game.
Homer’s Andrew VanPatten ended up leading the Trojans with 3 total touchdowns and 207 yards rushing. This is VanPatten’s third 200+ yard game in the season.

Homer has now defeated Cortland for the ninth straight Home-Cort Jug game and stands undefeated with a 3-0 overall record this season; while Cortland falls to 2-1.
