Cortland County to Administer 1,600 Second Doses of Moderna COVID-19 Vaccines Next Week

Press release from Cortland County Deputy Clerk Savannah Hempstead.

Due to the New York State required pause on the use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, Cortland County will not be offering any first dose vaccination appointments next week. The County will hold multiple second dose clinics next week at the SUNY Cortland ice arena. Anyone who has missed a second dose appointment may request placement on a standby list in the event a dose is available.

To be placed on a second dose standby list for Moderna, call the Cortland County COVID hotline at 607-756-3415, Monday through Friday 8:30 AM to 4 PM.

The Cortland County Health Department continues to encourage all residents age 16 and older to get vaccinated. Anyone seeking a first dose vaccination can schedule an appointment at NYS run vaccine sites here: New York | Covid-19 Vaccine (ny.gov). Additionally many local pharmacies are continuing to offer vaccination appointments, as well as primary care physicians’ offices.

New infections continue to be reported in Cortland and surrounding counties, demonstrating the need for our community to remain committed to doing our part to stop the spread. While vaccination is an important strategy to move us forward and protect our most vulnerable friends and family members, it remains important to continue to follow all established COVID protocols including NYS guidance for businesses and events, mask wearing, social distancing and hand hygiene.
