Cortland Weather Outlook: Thursday, May 6

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Thursday, May 6, 2021:

A small area of high pressure will move through the region today, increasing the sunshine, but not the temperatures.

Clouds will stick around stubbornly this morning, but will gradually break up. By the early afternoon, sunshine should become more plentiful. A few thin clouds or small fair weather clouds will still be around through the afternoon.

Precipitation is not expected today, though a bit of drizzle here or there early this morning is not out of the question.

Steady northwest winds will blow at around 10 mph throughout the day. Top gusts should peak at just under 30 mph.

High temperatures will be ten to fifteen degrees below the average today, reaching the low to perhaps mid 50s. Evening temperatures will quickly fall to the upper 30s.

Clouds will increase overnight and winds will turn to the southeast out ahead of the next system. Those two factors should keep temperatures from dropping further than the mid 30s.
