Cortland Weather Outlook: Saturday, May 8

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Saturday, May 8, 2021:

Low pressure will slowly pull away today but the weather will remain unsettled.

Thick clouds and some showers will continue this morning as the low tracks eastward. Areas of fog and drizzle will be possible as well.

During the midday or early afternoon, the showers will decrease and skies may brighten some as the thicker clouds depart.

Any sunshine that works out will only lead to more clouds and showers developing later in the afternoon, though. These showers should be isolated to scattered, so most of the afternoon will be rain-free.

Northwest winds will start the day around 5 mph, but will increase closer to 10 mph for the afternoon. Top gusts will be around 20 mph.

Temperatures will struggle today between the northwest winds and ample cloud cover. Morning temperatures will be especially slow to rise, barely getting above 40 degrees. Afternoon highs will make it into the upper 40s.

Skies will gradually clear tonight, but winds will turn to the west-southwest, keeping temperatures from free falling. Evening temperatures will drop into the upper 30s with mid 30s overnight.
