Cortland Weather Outlook: Tuesday, May 11

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Tuesday, May 11, 2021:

Much of the day will be quiet and cool, but a late disturbance will bring some chances for precipitation.

Frosty sunshine this morning will give birth to fair-weather clouds by the late morning hours. These clouds will stick around through the afternoon.

A few stray showers cannot be ruled out during the mid and late afternoon, but these will be spotty at best and most areas will stay dry.

A better chance for precipitation will come this evening as some atmospheric energy drops south into the region. Rain showers will become likely, and some snow may even mix in at times. The precipitation should wind down shortly after midnight.

Northwest winds will be blustery today with speeds of 10-15 mph and gusts as high as 35 mph.

Those winds will help hold temperatures down today with highs only reaching about 50 degrees. A quick drop to the mid and upper 30s will follow this evening, but the clouds should keep it from getting any colder.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Wednesday: Clouds with breaks of sun, especially late. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.

Thursday: Sunny with afternoon fair weather clouds. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs near 60.
