Press Release: Cortland County to Hold Single Dose Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic Next Week

Press release provided by Cortland County Deputy Clerk Savannah Hempstead.

As part the effort to continue the progress of vaccinating the community, the Cortland County Health Department and Guthrie Cortland Medical Center will be offering a Johnson and Johnson – Janssen “one and done” COVID-19 vaccination clinic on Wednesday May 19th from 4-6 PM at the SUNY Cortland Ice Arena . Individuals must be 18 years old and older to receive this vaccine.

If you are interested in receiving the Johnson and Johnson vaccine at the upcoming clinic, use this link C15C1CC, or call 607-756-3415 schedule an appointment.

The CDC and FDA have recommended use of J&J/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine resume in the U.S., effective April 23rd. A review of all available data at this time shows the J&J/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine’s known and potential benefits outweigh its known and potential risks for those recommended to receive it, according to the health department. Women younger than 50 years old especially should be aware of the rare risk of blood clots after vaccination for those with a low platelet count, and that other COVID-19vaccines are available where this risk has not been seen. We ask that you discuss any concerns with your healthcare provider before getting vaccinated. Those interested to receive a dose of any of the available vaccines, Moderna, Pfizer or Janssen can visit to find a provider and set up an appointment for a day and time that works for you.
