Vehicle fire near town of Preble slows traffic

A vehicle was on fire Monday morning on New York Interstate-81 northbound near mile-marker 66 (near the town of Preble).

The Preble fire department, with assistance from the Tully fire department, responded to the vehicle at 10:09 a.m. The fire caused a minor traffic jam, however, both departments cleared the scene around 10:18 a.m., a firefighter from the Preble fire department said. 

The driver of the vehicle exited the vehicle without any injuries or burns, the firefighter added, but the vehicle is beyond repair.

The cause of the vehicle fire is under investigation.
