Cortland Weather Outlook: Friday, May 21

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Friday, May 21, 2021:

Another hot day is ahead as high pressure continues to bring warm air into the area.

Sunshine will mix with on and off clouds again today. Some times will be sunnier than others, with a greater chance for a deck of thin clouds to filter the sunshine coming in the afternoon.

A stray shower may pop up this afternoon thanks to the heat and some humidity, but most areas will continue to stay dry.

Winds will be from the southwest around 5 mph until a shift more to the west during the latter part of the afternoon. Top gusts on the day will be under 20 mph.

All this will add up to highs once again reaching into the mid 80s this afternoon. Dewpoints will remain in the 50s, so the humidity should not be overly noticeable.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy as a thicker layer of clouds high in the atmosphere move through. No precipitation will fall with these clouds. Temperatures will slowly drop through the 60s, but are unlikely to enter the 50s overnight.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Saturday: More clouds than sun. A couple scattered showers. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the upper 70s.

Sunday: A few scattered afternoon showers or thunderstorms. Morning lows near 60. Afternoon highs in the upper 70s.

Monday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the upper 60s.

Tuesday: Sun, clouds, and scattered showers and thunderstorms. Morning lows in the low 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.
