Cortland Weather Outlook: Wednesday, June 2

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Wednesday, June 2, 2021:

Rain chances will gradually increase today as a disturbance works in from the southwest.

Clouds out ahead of this system increased last night and will thicken up a bit more this morning. The afternoon will be overcast as the rain starts to move in.

The first showers should start to arrive by midday or the very early afternoon. These will be scattered and light. 

Through the afternoon, showers will become more numerous and a few heavier downpours will be possible. A little thunder may accompany those heavier showers.

Showers may decrease some for the late afternoon and evening, only to increase again overnight.

Temperatures will be their warmest just before the rain starts with a high around 70 degrees. With the afternoon showers and clouds, temperatures should retreat into the mid and upper 60s.

After sunset, temperatures will slip back to the 50s, but should not drop any further.

Winds today will be from the south at around 5 mph but will increase to near 10 mph this evening. A few nighttime gusts over 20 mph will be possible.

Thursday: On and off showers and maybe a couple thunderstorms. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs near 70.

Friday: Morning sun, mixing with clouds in the afternoon. A few scattered thunderstorms late. Morning lows in the upper 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Saturday: Sun and clouds. Maybe a few scattered showers. Morning lows in the upper 50s. Afternoon highs near 80.

Sunday: Mostly sunny. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.
