Cortland County High School Sports Recaps (June 3rd)

Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Thursday's events:

Varsity Baseball: Marathon vs. Watkins Glen

The Marathon Olympians defeated Watkins Glen with a score of 8-3 on Thursday.

“The boys played really well tonight,” said Marathon Head Coach Bryan Hoyt. “We hit the ball as well as we have all year long. Everyone stepped up. This was a total team victory. We were patient at the plate, drew some walks and we delivered with runners in scoring position. I am very proud of the guys and how they played tonight.

“Ian pitched a great game. He was in total control all night,” added Coach Hoyt. “Trentin Ensign played a great game at shortstop turning two double plays.”

Marathon’s offense was led by Braydin Drake (1 run & 3 RBI’s), Evan Ticknor (2 runs), Zachary Birdsall (2 RBI’s), Jeffery Daugherty (2 RBI’s), Ethan Morrison (1 run), Trentin Ensign (1 run & 1 RBI), and Ian Gacek (1 run & 1 RBI).
