Cortland Weather Outlook: Tuesday, June 8

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Tuesday, June 8, 2021:

A soupy and unsettled day is ahead thanks to copious amounts of humidity.

Showers will be possible off and on throughout the morning hours, possibly accompanied by a rumble of thunder or two. Most of the rain should stay light, though a brief heavier downpour is not totally out of the realm of possibility.

The rain will transition to smaller individual cells for the afternoon. These will have a higher chance for heavier rain and lightning but will scattered and brief. Not all areas will see afternoon rain.

Temperatures will be held down by the clouds and precipitation, reaching a high around 80 degrees. However, with dewpoints near or above 70, it will still feel oppressively humid.

Winds will be light with speeds under 5 mph. The bit of breeze there is will be from the southwest and west.

A few more showers or even a thunderstorm will be possible this evening but the chances will be even lower than during the afternoon. It will remain muggy and warm, with temperatures slowly falling through the 70s and into the upper 60s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Wednesday: A mix of sun and clouds. A few more showers and thunderstorms. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs near 80.

Saturday: Partly cloudy. Maybe a stray shower or thunderstorm. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.
