The #4 seeded Marathon Lady Olympians hit the road on Wednesday to take on #1 seed Roxbury in the Section IV Class D semifinal round of the Sectional Tournament.

It was a close game all around with the Olympians winning the game with a score of 7-6.

The Olympians were down 3-4 at the end of the fourth inning. However, they then went into a hot streak in the fifth inning, scoring a total of 4 runs to take the lead that would win them the game.

Marathon’s offense was led by Brie Carter (3 runs), Audrey Jasper (2 runs), Brooke Tillotson (1 run), and Kaitlyn Mitchell (1 run).

Mitchell also threw a total of 5 strikeouts from the mound.

“Pitcher Kaitlyn Mitchell had an amazing game as did Sezja Brooks at first base, diving into the fence to catch a foul ball and not letting anything by her all night,” said Marathon Head Coach Jamie Bush. “Brooke Tillotson and Samantha Pendell got big hits in key moments that gave us just enough to move on to the finals.”

The Olympians will play in the Finals of the Section IV Class D Tournament on Friday (June 11th) against #2 seed Schenevus. The game will be played at Schenevus Central School with a 5 pm start.
