Homer Boys & Girls Lacrosse Season Comes to an End with Sectional Semifinal Losses

After some close games, both the Homer boys and girls lacrosse teams lost in the semifinal round of the Section III Class C Sectional Tournament yesterday (June 10th). 

Here are the results and highlights for both teams: 

Varsity Boys Lacrosse: Homer vs. CBA

The #3 seeded Homer Trojans lost a tough battle against #2 seed Christian Brothers Academy (CBA). Homer lost 6-11 on the road. 

It was a close first half, with Homer only being down by 3 goals at halftime. However, CBA pulled away in the 3rd quarter by outscoring the Trojans 4-1. 

Homer’s offense was led by Jake Calabro (2 goals & 1 assist), Ben Morenus (2 goals & 1 assist), Jared Mathews (1 goal & 2 assists), and Hunter Riehlman (1 goal). 

Homer goalie Collin Perks recorded a total of 11 saves. 

The Trojans ended their season with a 9-6 overall record. 

Varsity Girls Lacrosse: Homer vs. Jamesville-Dewitt

The #2 seeded Homer Lady Trojans lost a close 7-9  game against #3 seed Jamesville Dewitt. 

The Trojans were hit hard in the first half, being down 2-6 at the end of the half. In the second half, Homer started making a comeback, but it wasn't enough to level out the score. 

Camryn Calabro led Homer’s offense with 3 goals & 2 assists. Following Calabro were Kloey Roos (2 goals), Katlyn Sovocool (1 goal & 1 assist), Hannah Slade (1 goal & 1 assist), Lauren Walling (1 assist), and Annika Roos (1 assist). 

Homer goalie Sarah Sovocool saved a total of 5 shots in the game.

Homer ends their season with an 11-3 overall record.
